The stately heart of Kassandra overlooking the Aegean Sea
Afitos
Built on an impressive rock with panoramic views of the Toroneos Gulf, Afitos is one of the most picturesque and historic villages of Halkidiki. The 19th-century stone houses, cobblestone streets and flower-filled courtyards create an authentic atmosphere of tradition, while the viewpoints offer unique sunsets. In the center of the village stands the imposing Church of Agios Dimitrios, built in 1859 from local stone, with an impressive bell tower and an ornate wooden carved iconostasis.
Visitors can wander through the traditional alleys, enjoy meals overlooking the sea, and descend to the beaches below the cliff for swimming in crystal-clear waters. Of particular interest is the Folklore Museum of Afytos, where traditional costumes, tools, household items and photographic material are exhibited that present the daily life and history of the village over time. The experience ends with relaxation at the viewpoints, enjoying the magnificent sunset.
